PRESENTER
Sam Dias
Sam Dias has been working within the Dental Laboratory field since the early 1990s. In 2005, he completed his Dental Technology Diploma and in 2008 he opened and ran a fully functional Dental Laboratory. He then continued on to further complete his Advanced Diploma of Dental Prosthetics in 2010, followed by opening up his first Dental Practice in Sydney. After continuing to practice both within the Dental Surgery and the Dental Laboratory, he opened a second dental practice in 2013. Two years later he opened a third dental practice followed by opening his fourth in 2017.
During this time, Sam has continued to further his knowledge within all areas of dentistry by travelling the world, completing courses and searching for innovative ideas. He has continued to build his businesses around latest dental technologies, whilst gaining knowledge and experience in using cutting edge products and procedures. Sam now runs courses and lectures on the products he uses and the techniques he has developed.
Sam is well-known and respected within his local communities for being a passionate, genuine, and caring practitioner whilst also being a dedicated and hard-working business owner.
Session Overview
1. Data capture: Intraoral scanner, photos, patient survey and data collection.
• Impression vs Scanning - A discussion and slide presentation comparing intraoral scanning and traditional impressions, including a live scan patient.
• Clinical workflows for correctly scanning different types of denture cases with a LIVE demonstration.
• Preparing scans before export to fellow colleagues and or labs to minimise errors and patient discomfort, REVIEWS!
2. Design: Putting all the data you have collected into practice in design software.
• Slideshow/Skim through only: Digital denture design - The basics
• Denture teeth library options and applications will be discussed.
• Digital denture teeth setups.
• Denture teeth options, different materials for multiple applications, such as printed, milled and carded.
• Denture base design - Key principles to bear in mind when designing your denture bases plus a guide to troubleshooting.
3. Production: Producing your combined data and design in a printer or milling unit ready for the patient.
• LIVE Carded denture teeth, Milled Teeth and Printed Teeth - Step-by-step bonding technique with tips and tricks.
• Finishing and polishing - Tips to achieve a great outcome.
• Discussion + Q&A Session.
