INSIGHT HYAKU100

GC Australasian Dental Symposium 2023

Sharing 100 years of experience towards simplification in dentistry.

The turn of this decade marked 100 years of GC’s contributions to the improvement of global well-being through oral healthcare. Most importantly, it marked a need to examine the evolution of dentistry that has resulted in modern challenges for today’s practising professional.

The emergence of new technologies in treatment solutions can complicate choice-making, and access to information through digital media has transformed public understanding of oral health as we witness changes in patient expectations. All the while, external challenges continue to disrupt workflow processes.

GC Corporation invites you to Insight Hyaku100 on Saturday 18th of February at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney: observe latest developments in the new age of clinical, procedural and evidence-based dentistry.

Engage with the country’s leading experts and key opinion leaders against the backdrop of Darling Harbour as they share ways to optimise clinical workflows whilst moving towards a higher standard of dentistry in practice.

Celebrate one century of GC, the Leader in Quality.

Agenda

 08.00am  CHECK-IN

08.30am  CPP-ACP: A Salivary Biomimetic, Presented by Dr James Fernando

This presentation will go through the bioactive properties of casein phosphopeptides in the oral cavity. As a salivary biomimetic, CPP-ACP is able to prevent oral disease and promote oral health in susceptible individuals. For saliva deficiency, CPP-ACP provides increased protection against the development of caries. Use of CPP-ACP is evidence-based and it is available in various modes of delivery.

09.15am  MI Dentistry and the Magic of Modern Materials, Presented by Prof Ian Myers

This presentation will look at how developments in restorative materials have enhanced the ability of the clinician to provide an extended range of restorative options for patients. The advances in dental adhesives, composite resins, glass ionomers, and glass hybrids will be discussed, and how these newer materials provide opportunities for their selective use in minimum intervention restorative strategies. Concepts on how to simplify and improve outcomes for both patients and practitioners will be investigated, with emphasis on management of the more complex cases and consideration of the appropriate interventions for the more mature patients.

10.15am  BREAK

10.30am Bonded Anterior Ceramic Restorations, Presented by Dr Anthony Mak

The expectation that anterior dental restorations should be highly aesthetic, durable and minimally invasive is becoming the common expectation among patients who are increasingly well informed. The utilisation of bonded ceramic restorations has rapidly become the cornerstone modality in meeting these expectations.

The goal of this presentation is to demonstrate how basic planning and execution of these modalities of treatment can be applied from the simple everyday cases to the more complex and challenging cases. It is the goal of the presentation to highlight the use of modern digital technologies to simplify and facilitate the delivery of indirect all ceramic restorations.

12.15pm  LUNCH

13.15pm  Objectifying the Art of Anterior Resins, Presented by Dr Bharat Agrawal

Creating beautiful anterior restorations with direct composite that mimic the natural dentition requires the dental practitioner to understand shape, colour and texture. It is often considered the truest reflection of one’s artistic ability, however, an objective and systematic approach can make this predictable and reproducible. This lecture will cover planning, execution, finishing and polishing techniques, providing a systematic approach to anterior composite dentistry.

14.15pm  Key Concepts for Adhesion in Fixed Prosthodontics, Presented by Dr Chee Chang

We are in the age of adhesion for our indirect fixed prosthodontic reconstructions, and much has been written about ways to achieve maximum tensile bond strength to ensure restoration longevity. However, there are still many concepts that can be confusing, such as the use of air abrasion prior to adhesive cementation procedures. This lecture will examine some of the processes that we are able to control clinically that will ensure we are getting the most out of our adhesive agents and cements, so as to increase the longevity of our indirect restorations.

15.00pm  BREAK

15.30pm  Reconstruction of the Compromised Posterior Tooth, Presented by Dr Yo-Han Choi
