Prof. Axel Spahr
Dr. med. dent. habil., MRACDS (Perio)

Prof. Spahr is Director of Oral Rehabilitation and Head of the Discipline Periodontics as well as Deputy Head of School at The University of Sydney Dental School.

Prof. Spahr is the former Head of Periodontics at the University of Ulm in Germany and has worked at various international universities and research facilities. He has additional training in microbiology, molecular biology, extensive experience in basic science research, animal research and clinical research. His research interest includes periodontal regeneration, bone regeneration, periodontitis and systemic diseases, antimicrobial therapy as well as dental implants and peri-implant diseases. He has led large externally funded research projects and is collaborating with leading international research groups and companies in the field of periodontology, implantology and bone regeneration. He is author of numerous publications in international peer-reviewed dental and medical journals, book chapters and has presented his work at professional conferences worldwide.

Prof. Spahr is a board registered periodontal specialist, he works part time in an established specialist periodontal and implant practice in Sydney and is the past President of the Periodontal Research Group of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR). He is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), the International College of Dentists(ICD), and the Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA).











Dr Thomas Giblin 

Dr. Thomas Giblin graduated from the University of Sydney’s Bachelor of Dentistry with Honours in 2004. After working in private practice, he was admitted to the University Of Texas Health Science Centre at San Antonio in their Graduate Advanced Prosthodontics Program.

Dr. Giblin is interested in many areas of dentistry, but has a heavy focus on dental implants, occlusion and aesthetic dentistry. Dr. Giblin is also very interested in the technical aspect of prosthodontics and has his own full service dental laboratory, heavily utilising digital workflows. Dr. Giblin lectures extensively both in Australia and overseas and runs his own courses out of his teaching facility in Mona Vale, Australia. He is also the member if many dental societies both in Australia and overseas, including the ADA, AANZP, ACP, IAG and AARD. He currently sits on the Federal Executive committee of the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry (ASID.org.au) and is a Member, Fellow, Diplomate and examiner of the International Congress of Oral lmplantologists (ICOl.org), the largest implant organisation in the world, where he also serves as the current President-Elect.



Kylie Robb

Recognised as a leader for advocating for best practice infection prevention and control (IPC) standards in dental for Australia and around the world, Kylie was recognised by the World Health Organisation’s Western Pacific Regional Office for her dental IPC expertise and is routinely invited to speak at national conferences and events. Kylie is an experienced educator presenting to thousands around Australia on IPC, clinical governance, dental practice sustainability and health services management and is often sought for her technical IPC implementation expertise. Kylie collaborates closely with prominent dental corporates, government agencies, the public health sector, the dental industry, dental associations, and other peak bodies across Australia. She also engages with universities and works directly with private dental practitioners to provide support in IPC risk management and implement quality improvement initiatives.
